Peripheral Pumps

Peripheral pumps (also known as regenerative or turbine pumps) are compact, inexpensive and capable of producing relatively high pressure and head at low flow rates due to their precise engineering. They are built with a specialized impeller design that has a large number of vanes surrounding it. The fluid is repeatedly circulated through the vanes and peripheral channel by the impeller, generating more and more energy. Unlike in standard centrifugal pumps, the fluid will be rotated through the pump several times, allowing a large amount of energy to be gained in a small space. Peripheral pumps are effective for pumping clean water, so common applications for these pumps include water distribution, pressure boosting, irrigation and sprinkler systems.
